To back up their slogan “You’ll Know All the Words,†Love Junkie maintains a set list of popular cover songs that appeal to a wide range of ages and musical tastes. Their dedication to putting on a professional show both musically and visually has made them one of Ohio’s most sought after live bands.
The style of their original music has been compared to that of Van Halen, Sammy Hagar, and Aerosmith. Additional influences include AC/DC, Rush, Kiss, and other bands from that era of rock. Beginning with the upbeat and humorous "Almost Innocent" to the hard driving "You're All I Need," every song was inspired by a story – most from personal experience – or historical as in the case of "Mourning's Over." Their versatility is confirmed with the haunting American Indian flute of "Little Sparrow," the lead-in to this song about the decimation of the American Indians from a warrior's perspective.
What sets them apart from other bands is their attitude, their dedication to providing a professional, quality performance, and their combined background experience.
Vocalist Keith Rawlins has a bachelor's degree in arts, majoring in music and vocal performance, and has acted and sung with many local theaters in several states in addition to years of performing with bands. His love for the stage is obvious as he draws the audience into his excitement, whether he's singing for 30 people or 3,000.
Lead guitarist Jeff Madewell has performed in live bands since the age of 16. After winning a battle with Cancer and the loss of the majority of his vision at 19, Jeff dedicated himself soley to music and the music industry. He managed his former band, Madewell, who opened for national acts, received radio airplay and traveled and performed at a multi-state level. He recorded and produced Love Junkie's "Is This Us?" at his production studio, and it is solid evidence of his musical skill and understanding, as well as his commitment to quality sounding music.
Bassist Antrum Stewart is described as a natural. Whether melodic or driving, his bass lines are drawn from rock, blues, and funk influences. This combined with his gift of knowing exactly what the song calls for makes him the a perfect fit with Mike to create Love Junkie's rythym section.
Mike Gross began playing at the age of 15, and is a skillful and very well-respected drummer with the reputation of being one of the area's best. His broad musical taste (from thrash metal to ethnic percussion), combined with his dedication to continually absorb new techniques and playing styles, are evident in his live and recorded performances.
