Much of the music is rock based, but with influences ranging from King Crimson, Zappa and Rush. An experiment of sorts keeping the prog-rock vibe, but squeezed to 3.5 mintues or less. Of course, not all of the songs stay in this time frame. A discussion that Sean and Paul DeGooyer (Sony Music) had, some 3 years ago. About songs sticking to the 3.5 minute time frame for radio or pop music. Avoiding the pop style of writing, Sean decided to stick with the usual but dramatically cut the songs much shorter than on previous albums. 3.5 is a collection of songs written and recorded over the last 3 years. An assortment of different styles, from the opening classical peace, to the psychodic hard rock/blues of Wonka, to the mellow folk/rock of Your Eyes. Some of the best work yet from Sean Carolan.
