Founded in 1995 by Helena Cos and Johnny Nap, SPIDER ROCKETS meld the caustic with the otherworldly to form its own brand of heavy rock-n-roll. When you listen to this New Jersey band, the music of Velvet Revolver, 7-Year Bitch, Evanescence and Rage Against the Machine may come to mind.
SPIDER ROCKETS has released a number of EP's and LP's. The band's most recent releases, "Preview" and "Flipped Off," were produced by Martin Bisi, who has previously worked with Sonic Youth, The Swans and The Dresden Dolls. Both "Preview" and "Flipped Off" received nationwide radio airplay and "Flipped Off" debuted in the top 20 on CMJ's "Top Radio Adds" Chart and received airplay on over 160 stations nationwide. One track from the CD was an Alternative Song Nominee for the "Just Plain Folks Music Awards." Another song was a finalist in the "Goodnight Kiss" song contest. Recognition for previously recorded CDs came from Sennheiser's song contest and Songwriter's Monthly selected SPIDER ROCKETS as a "future charter winner" in its monthly songwriting contest.
SPIDER ROCKETS continues to perform live and has recently showcased in Berlin, Germany at Popkomm Festival 2005. The band has opened for a number of national acts including Slash from Guns n' Roses and has performed at many venues and festivals in the Northeast and the Midwest. In addition, Spider Rockets has recently showcased at the following music conferences: The Millennium Music Conference (Harrisburg, PA), The Motor City Music Conference (Detroit, MI) and The Midpoint Music Festival (Cincinnati, OH). The band's upcoming plans include releasing a new full length CD in 2006.
