TOXIN BIO
Tox"in, Toxine Tox"ine, n. [Gr. toxiko`n.] A poisonous substance which is produced by living cells or organisms. A toxin is not the creation of this band, but a definition of the music itself. We use our songs as an emotional outlet, to rid ourselves of the negativity crawling within. The result is a musical explosion of passion and energy when Toxin hits the stage. Cam's powerful voice and emotionally charged lyrics front the band with the intense groove of Lex's bass filling in the blanks and the dynamic rhythms of Damian anchoring the trio. Toxin brings music back to what it is meant to be: an art form. Beautiful yet disturbing, Toxin's music can be heartfelt and emotional, yet overwhelmingly powerful in the same instance. It is this force that binds the group, and this force that brings to light the energy that Toxin transcend with their music. * * * * * * * * * * * Every creation has a creator. Every being has its burden. Every band has its story. Toxin? Spawned in the backwater annals of Alberta, Canada (Rocky Mtn. House), Cam and Lex created the entity now known as Toxin. The year was 1998. They were still in high school, but already the dynamic team of Cam and Lex was evident. Cam's unique voice coupled with Lex's uncommonly groovy basslines provided the canvas. The songwriting styles of both provided the paint and brush. Toxin has written over 40 original tunes, finely honing their craft as they progressed. In 2004, Toxin has now found their niche within the alternative modern rock genre, lifting the musical style of bands in the vein of 3 Days Grace and Finger Eleven to a new and exciting level. Since inception, Toxin has performed all over Alberta and British Columbia. They've been featured in Edmonton's top clubs: Reds, Kingsknight Pub, Urban Lounge. Their participation in the competition of Stripdown at Reds saw the band showcasing for 2 A&R reps, Ted Seto from Universal music, and Jaime Milligan from Roadrunner Records. Also attending the event were 2 major producers Graham Brewer (Sam Roberts, Econoline Crush) and John Whynot (Not By Choice, Bruce Cockburn). Toxin's music has also been featured on 100.3 The Bear, the major rock radio station in Edmonton. Currently the band is putting their effort into promoting their first commercial EP entitled Disintegrate. The album features 7 of the bands' songs, and is entirely self recorded and produced. Lex graduated from the Grant MacEwan College Recording Arts program, so the expertise is definitely present. Doing it themselves is the only way that Toxin would have the time and the resources to get the sound that they wanted. Right now the CD is being promoted to press and radio throughout western Canada. Disintegrate has received radio play on Sun FM in Grande Prairie and on 100.3 The Bear in Edmonton. Toxin has also been featured in The Edmonton Journal, The Edmonton Sun, The Daily Herald in Grande Prairie among others. Disintegrate has already sold several hundred copies and is quickly becoming a success for Toxin. With every note of every song, Toxin breathe life into their music. The unique and energetic style of Toxin is a show not be missed, and a book not to be closed. visit www.toxin.ca Check out the artist's website: http://www.toxin.ca Track List: 1. Born Dumb 2.
