THE ROAD TO FAME CAN BE HELL
The Tuck 'n' Roll Players are a hi-concept troupe of San Francisco artists, musicians & thespians bringing their own brand of Trannyrock to the Bay Area!
In Y2K after the success of the group's first musical, "Cyberotica!", the group set out to maximize the performance potential of each performer in a rock musical based on a classical work.
Club Inferno, based on the Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri, was the result and opened in September, 2000 in the tiny Paradise Lounge, as the Dot.com boom and bust had laid waste the SF small theatre scene.
Winner of 2 Bay Area Critic Circle Awards [Best Original Score, Best Original Book (Musical)], Club Inferno tells the story of the Diva Dante, who after her accidental electrocution, must travel through the 9 Circles of Hell to make her way home. Guided by the guitar playing white angel, Virgil, the band descends Hell's stratum, encountering the denizens of Hades. Among those they meet along the way are such notables as Mamma Cass, Karen Carpenter, Cleopatra, Joan of Arc and ultimately, Dante's Divine muse, Judy Garland.
