Vacation On Mars
"Large, Loud, Living on the edge, Rock 'n' Roll! That's Vacation On Mars in a nutshell." Says Cameron Basler, lead singer and guitar player for the three piece rock n roll jaunt called "Vacation On Mars".

This three piece bands sounds like a five piece!" one great mind once said. They have amazing songs, great dynamics, amusing personalities, and they put on a unique and spectacular live show too. They combine the styles of rock, blues, alternative, folk and metal into something that is truly a Vacation On Mars. They have been sited at the 2004 new years show at Saskatchewan Place and have opened up for such bands as the New Meanies, the Grapes of Wrath Captain Tractor, Butterfinger, and most recently, Skid Row. The band is scheduled to release their full length CD sometime this winter and will be seen touring everywhere. The bands most recent achievement is having the song Terpentine, from their demo CD reach number nine in the world hard rock charts on Broadjam.com and the songs Terpentine and Heading Out reach six and nine on Broadjam.com for Alberta.

Cameron Basler is the lead singer and guitar player for the band and also contributes some of the keyboard and harmonica parts to the live show. He has been playing for about17 years and loves all styles of music. He has played in various bands over the years, such as the Ritual, Spacious Basement, Hypnotic Sensation, Paris Burning, Lil Jinx, Pinhead, Phyto and Wicked World. Cameron says that he loves all styles of music but his favorite bands are the classic rock bands like Led Zeppelin, the Beatles, the Doors, Bob Dylan, Aerosmith, Black Sabbath and alternative bands like Mr.Bungle, Tomahawk, Frank Zappa. Cameron was schooled in music at the Professional Musicians College in Regina and from the years on the road with other musicians. Cameron says that he feels that the music industry has gotten stale and hopes to be one of the people to bring back some of what it has lost. "Music used to be mysterious and bands seemed like gods when I was younger. Now everybody and their dog is starting a band and recording CD's. Only the bands with good marketing skills are getting ahead and less and less emphasis seems to be paid on talent and songwriting abilities. I still think people deserve to see a good show with lots of production but I still think there is still room for emotion and musicianship as well."

Chad Carmichael is the drummer/percussionist for the band and has been playing drums for about 10 years. Chad has a wide variety of influences that span the musical spectrum. Some of his favorite bands are Kiss, Alice in Chains, Ozzy Osborne, Stone Temple Pilots and Metallica. Chad has played in a few bands over the years such as Downgrader and 43 Bone. Chad says that he just wants to have fun and make some music. Needless to say the drummer Chad is the party animal of the band and the most outspoken. This raw energy coupled with his talent makes him an integral part of the bands makeup and songwriting style.

Cody Penny plays bass and sings background vocals in the band. He has been playing Bass for about 15 years in such groups as Butterfinger and Bud and the Boys. His influences are bands such as Lynard Skynard, Van Halen, Velvet Revolver, and Jimi Hendrix. Cody is the kind of bass player who locks down the groove and adds a whole new dimension to the music.

Together these three musicians, Cameron Basler, Chad Carmichael, and Cody Penny make up the new and exciting musical group Vacation On Mars who will be in your area soon, looking to be your tour guides into Rock.
