Willie Oteri is involved in Mate *Ma* Toot and Jazz Gunn. Mate *Ma* Toot is an album recorded as a Mate *Ma* Toot "Concept of" live album featuring some of Austin's top jazz musicians in an unrehearsed jam. The results were so good and so well accepted, that Oteri formed a permanent group to carry on the concept and play live jazz fusion called Jazz Gunn.
Oteri founded Jazz Gunn, (AKA MateMaToot) along with drummer Brannen Temple (Sheena Easton, Kevin Paige, Robben Ford, Eric Johnson), bassist Chris Maresh (Eric Johnson, Abra Moore, Mitch Watkins), Mike Malone (Jimmy Smith) on sax and Chris Tondre on second guitar. In 1999 Jazz Gunn published "Concepts of Mate Ma Toot". The sound is heavy and sometimes in your face mix of free form improvisation and structured ideas, which weave in and out through a mix of solid grooves and loose free rhythms. Willie has performed with or supported Brannen Temple, Jazz Gunn (Matematoot), Doobie Brothers, Bob Seger, Lacy J. Dalton, Tunji, Jacob Fred Jazz Oddysey, Neil Young, Roy Hargrove, Karl Denson's Tiny Universe, Chaka Kahn and several others. Check out the artist's website: http://willieoteri.com/ Track List: 1.
