"I should like to paint the portrait of an artist friend, a man who dreams great dreams, who works as the nightingale sings, because it is in his nature. I paint him as he is, as faithfully as I can, to begin with.
"But the picture is not yet finished. To finish it, I am now going to be the arbitrary colorist. I exaggerate the fairness of the hair...and behind the head, instead of painting the ordinary wall of the mean room, I paint infinity, a plain background of the richest, intensist blue I can contrive...By this simple combination, I get a mysterious effect, like a star in the depths of the azure sky." That's how the artist Vincent Van Gogh described his painting style in a letter to his brother, Theo. Unlike a painting or drawing, music is a little harder to describe. You've got to be there to fully experience it. And one particular performance band has chosen the famous artist's name to help convey its dedication, as well as its unique musical approach. VAN GOGH is a spirited palette of sound created by four talented "colorists" hailing from Boise, Idaho. Their very different musical backgrounds and personalities mesh to form an entertaining, all original act: no games, gimmicks or funny clothes, just sharp, straightforward rock 'n' roll. To build its repertoire, VAN GOGH has borrowed fom the best of many genres, including country, blues, jazz and latin influences. A twin guitar attack, along with a driving rythm section, is at the heart of the band. This Album and site is dedicated to the memory of our "Brother In Arms" and an incredible bass player and musician Kevin Lane.....Rest In Peace my friend. Track List: 1. Starin' Down The Redeye 2.
