A little about the bands:

Aylum Street Spankers - Bluesy burlesque burnin' tunes is the best way to describe their sound and if you are near Austin, Texas you should be able to catch a live show. The song "Blade of Grass" makes one feel that they are laying in the grass on a summers day and sets the tone for the rest of the CD.

Jack Salamander - Jack Salamander is a five piece band that blows in from the city of horns - Chicago, Illinois. This song was originally released on the 98 Salamander CD jam "A Child's Garden of Jack" along with the smokin' hot "Bongfulla Bettas", "Swami", and 9 other heady trax. If you like to puff when you party, this song will define your existence and become your theme song!

Center Divide - Willy was a prophet, not much of a farmer . . . and when his weeds grow out of control he tells the prosecutor that he didn't see them "because my hair was in my eyes". Center Divide plays desert-drivin' folk-rock and hails from the Bay Area.

Herb Superb - Herb is a wacked, irreverent Aussie stoner who claims that "I smoked it once but I didn't draw back". When I hear this song I am reminded of the song "One Toke Over the Line".

The Offshore Band - Front man Rick Steffen, a 10 year Florida Keys veteran has good luck fishin' when he catches a "square grouper", slang for a bale of weed. This song appeared on Rico's "Tropical Nights" release and is an artful blend of Romance, Country, and Caribbean styles know as the "Florida Keys Sound".

GT Moore - Coming in hot all the way from Belgium is reggae artist GT Moore. Be on the lookout for his new band, GT Moore & The Roots Federation.

The Hangover Crew - Irie marijuana minimalism is the best way to describe sWEEDish band THC's sound. They record all their songs in joint stereo. Tell me if this song doesn't make you fell like you are chillin' on a island beach?

Richard Hardesty Band - Rich Hardesty bases out of Indianapolis, Indiana but he spends a lot of time with his ganja farming friend Zuga in Jamaica. Richar has recorded a sack of songs about ganja including "420", "Dooby Song", "Jamaica Me Crazy", "Steady High", and "Granola Girl".

Sunny Wheat - Sunny Wheat grows with the hemp along the banks of the Mississippi River in Moline, Illinois. Rich has jammed with Buddy Miles and Joey has gotten down with Keller Williams.

Sabrosa Red - Swamp band Sabrosa Red is from Louisville, Kentucky and if they keep coming out with tight jams like this they are sure to be swamped with phans. Your gonna love the 4 part harmonies accompanied by bong hits. Sounds like Creedence Clearwater Revival crossed with jam band Phish.

Strange Neighbors - Iowa's psychedelic groove rock band Strange Neighbors has many burnin' tunes and this is one of them. I owe a lot to Iowa pot! You'll want to take a walk by the river with your partner, lay a blanket down, smoke a joint and make sweet love to this song. If you can't schmooze them with this song it aint going to happen . . .

Aleta Kim - Singer and songwriter Aleta Kim is from Smyrna, Georgia. Her smokin' vocals always hit home her inspiring message oriented lyrics. One message she wants to plant is of the seeds of freedom . . .

Cazualty - On Sept 3rd & 4th 2001 Tom Crosslin and Rollie Rhom were shot and killed on their land in Vandalia, Michigan by FBI agents who pretend that they had no other alternative. Rainbow Farm served as a gathering spot for pro marijuana rights events for years and Tom and Rollie were true activist heroes. This song captures the spirit of what happend an might just bring a tear to your eye.

Teddy Woodward & The Hemptations - Teddy calls Tennessee home, and he wants to see marijuana relegalized using music to spread the good word. It should be noted that when Federal Agents raided Marijuana Radio's 420dj Chex on 2/19/02 while he was out (working on putting together this CD Compilation) that they left the lyrics to this song on the back of the chair near his door. Maybe they were moved by the lyrics: "Check the people who are out there kicking down doors, not me . . . Check the ones who are out attacking plants, not me . . ."

David Rovics - We end the Compilation with the happy upbeat Appalachian song Cannabis Cafe. This song originally appeared on "We Just Want The World", one of David's 5 CD releases, and was recorded at Jamaica Plain, MA. David sings about a place he visited in Vancouver, BC and he would like to see more places like this open up all across North America. We tend to agree!

Cover Art and 4:20 Clock Disk Image - Jean Hanamoto
Jean Hanomoto is a proud member of WAMM - Women's Alliance for Medical Marijuana. In her capacity at WAMM, Jean helps to grow, process, and distribute high quality marijuana to seriously ill patients with AIDS, Glaucoma, MS, and Epilepsy - free of charge, relying only on donations from the kind of kind people that might be reading this right now and getting this hing . . . (to be blunt). Her closeness and connection to the plant has made Jean see marijuana as art. With her stash of cannabis photos and a computer, Jean is stirring the pot with her technique she calls "Real Photoism" that has one underlying goal: Make Medical Marijuana Acceptable!
