If you like your classic rock more on the rootsy side, and prefer a pop/adult/alternative vibe, then ‘Final Justice is for you. This debut CD from Damian Knapp is a satirical dissertation on modern American culture. The CD opens with the playful, “I’m 28 Years Old And I Work At A Convenient Store”, showcasing Damian’s conversational vocal style and red hot blues guitar leads in the style of Duane Allman or Stevie Ray Vaughn. Small town observations are the theme in “Regular Taj Mahal”, a song about playing nowhere gigs in a nowhere town, dig the classic blues/rock slide guitar solo and Rolling Stones beat. For the third track we observe ‘A Great White Tongan Love God’, the story of a middle-aged pot growing hippie who spends his days writing about the deeper meaning of life on the island of Maui, HI. ‘Final Justice’ is the product of Damian’s first original band, ‘Machine Gun Mary’, who performed in many different kinds of atmospheres over the course of 2000-2002, from college venues to honkey-tonk bars. It shows on “Late Night Rock ‘N’ Roll Sideshow”, the tunes roadhouse groove is infectious from the first beat, sure to satisfy the toughest biker crowd. After the disbandment of ‘Machine Gun Mary’, Damian went back into the studio and completed his unfinished ‘Machine Gun Mary’ demos. The final track to this five song debut EP is a fitting climax to the dark introspections that permeate ‘Final Justice’. On a dark ride thru the desert, with murder on his mind, Damian takes us deep into the underbelly of the American night to seek revenge on his rival. Johnny Cash meets Nirvana here, a fitting ending to this spaghetti western soundtrack that will keep you on the edge of your seat until the very last note.
