Groove Element is a rock group from College Park, MD.
The band started playing together in December of 2000. The style of music played by Groove Element is a universal rock sound that draws on classic rock, contemporary rock, and popular music. All the members of Groove Element attend the University of Maryland at College Park. Since they began playing shows Groove Element has performed at many venues in Baltimore-Washington area. Those venues have ranged from coffee shops and neighborhood bars to large clubs and even University of Maryland's own Ritchie Coliseum. From these shows Groove Element has gained a loyal and always growing fan base. Groove Element consists of six members: Tom Bolgiano is the band's vocalist and conga player. Eric Buchner plays the keyboards and provides harmony vocals for the band. Michael Gualtieri plays the electric guitar and is the third part of the bands three-part harmony vocals. David Heiney-Gonzalez plays the acoustic guitar. The rhythm section consists of Matthew Dwyer on the bass guitar and Nicholas Griner on the drums. In the winter of 2001-2002 the band recorded their first full-length studio album, titled, "On Our Own." Released in March of 2002 it was the culmination of a year of songwriting and playing together. The experience strengthened the friendships among the band members and bonded them as bandmates. Groove Element is capable of playing a variety of different shows. The band offers mellow acoustic sets, powerful sets of original material, and extended marathon sets mixing both original and cover tunes. Groove Element has played benefit shows for charities such as EarthShare and the Children's Miracle Charities.
