Hi Everybody,
My name's "Rockin' Denny".
I've been lovin' and playin' Rockabilly for a long time.
I was just a baby when Rockabilly came to be, but I got into it for the first time in the late 1970's. I was diggin' Dave Edmunds and Robert Gordon (who brought Rockabilly to a wider audience), but when the Stray Cats hit I just went nuts!!! Their music led me to the original rockabillies like Buddy, Carl, Johnny, and many others.

I put together my first Rockabilly band (The Chrome Daddios) with my friend "Lonesome Willy" in the early 1980's. Our sound was a cross between the Stray Cats and the Blasters. We had guitar, upright bass, piano, drums and even a sax for a short time. I have band recordings from that time period that I'd really love to to get released.

The second band I was in (The Rocktones) had an edgier sound than the Chrome Daddios. We had fewer instruments, but we rocked hard! A few rough "Live" recordings are all that remain from that band.

My third band was called "ROCKIN' DENNY and THE REAL GONE GUYS". We recorded live in the studio using recording equipment almost identical to what they had at SUN Records in Memphis, Tennessee. Our single release from those sessions (*BOP BOOGIE b/w TINGALING) has been reissued on a vinyl compilation called:
AMERICAN ROCKABILLY VOL. 1 Ultra Rare & Rockin'(Kat Tales).

I have a LIMITED supply of *THE "ORIGINAL 45 RPM SINGLE " of BOP BOOGIE b/w TINGALING on the "PRESTO" available through the address below!

The NEW band I'm in is called HAYWIRE!
We just released our first CD called MOVIN'! On our new CD we put together a collection of songs that show what we're about. We put some of our favorite "Cover" songs and some solid "Original" songs on our CD!
I sing lead and play lead guitar, Cathy Jo sings harmony and plays acoustic guitar, and Rick sings backup vocals and plays upright bass.
With my solid rhythm section keepin' the beat I can sing like crazy, and play some rockin' lead guitar!
We put a lot of love and work into this CD. I hope you like it. Check it out, and let me know what you think.

YOU CAN EVEN WRITE A REVIEW OF OUR CD AT THE BOTTOM OF THE PAGE!

Thanks a lot,
Rockin' Denny

The liner notes to Movin' dedicate the disc to Carl Perkins, Johnny Cash, Buddy Holly, Warren Smith, and the Rock and Roll Trio. Not surprisingly, Haywire's effort couldn't be a bigger fan letter to the ghosts of rock'n'roll past. Rooted in the sound of 1950's rockabilly, the trio's 14 song debut is a mix of original songs and favorite covers. The vocal harmonies of guitar duo Dennis and Cathy meld nicely with Rick Santon's thumping upright bass, and originals such as I'm Movin' and I'll Be There stand tall next to the tunes penned by Haywire's musical heroes.

This trio out of Ohio has put out a CD with some great tunes in their release entitled Movin'!
One thing that is really liked about this album is the recording quality. Too many times bands try to get the old recording sound of the 50's. We have the technology these days to get superb sound, so it should be taken advantage of, as this band has.
Besides the technical stuff however, this CD offers some great songs that are very easy to listen to. Get it, put it in your player, and roll away!

CD/RATING: 4/5

BEST SONGS: "Sweet, Sweet Girl" and "Rock Boppin' Baby"

Cathy Jo Petti and Dennis Petti made a good move by ditching folk music in favor of rockabilly. Not that the couple might not have been a fine folk-singing duo, but there's a glut of those in Cleveland -- and a dearth of roots rockers. So with friend Rick Santon, an upright-bass player, the Pettis plunged into the world of Carl Perkins and Duane Eddy.
Haywire's debut CD (Movin') has this rockabilly thing down pat. Nine of the 14 songs are covers, including the infectious Eddie Fontaine jewel "Nothin' Shakin' (But the Leaves on the Trees)." It's the stuff Dennis and Cathy Jo wrote themselves, however, that gives this outfit such promise. Cathy Jo's "Bad, Bad Baby" could easily have been recorded by (dare we say) Elvis Presley in his pre-Hollywood, pre-Vegas days. Let's hope that Haywire is in the rockabilly biz for the long haul.
