Kent Curtiss has something to say. With lyrics that are
equal parts spiritual message, humorous insight, and social commentary, Kent's songs require the listener to think!

Kent Curtiss, formerly of The Cause and Souls Under the Altar, is happy to announce the release of the independent solo CD project "Bread & Water" The CD, released in mid March, 2003, defies pigeonhole catagorization and stretches the limits of what some would consider Contemporary Christian Music.
"Curtiss' CD "Bread & Water" can only be described as an original, and while the underlying message is spiritual, the lyrics are seasoned with humor as well as social and political views," writes Ravalli Republic Entertainment Editor Georgia Kay.

The Clash, Elvis Costello, and Talking Heads are counted among Kent's early influences, but since coming into relationship with Christ in the early 90's the sensibilities of artists like Steve Taylor and The Waiting now help to shape the personable, eclectic style of this unique musician. Whether it's the rocking stomp of songs like Armor On or In Control, the melodious anti-Darwinian backhand of Monkey's Uncle, or the boppin' B-52-esque Bread & Water, you won't want to miss a word and you won't be able to keep your body from moving.

Kent has assembled a talented group of musicians to take this music public, and has already recived critical acclaim for the effort. In May, 2003 Kent and his band won top prize in the Song Bird Talent Challenge in Couer D'Alene, Idaho from a field of 80 Christian artsts. "All of their songs made such a statement," said contest organizer Debbie Coffey. It was very unique and original - something that everyone liked."

Kent's live show is complimented by the onstage antics of lead guitarist Tom Nash, the rock-solid rhythm section of Jeramy Parker and Mike DeFlores on drums and bass respectively, and the sweet harmonies and keyboard work of Janet Curtiss and Cyndy Hull. The music and lyrics reach out across musical and spiritual borders, encouraging believers and non-believers alike. This is exhortation and joy in Christ with a back beat.
