PIPO FIASCO
Marc Gagnon is a Montreal musician ,singer and songwriter. He has been writing, playing and recording with his band pipo fiasco since the dawn of the new millennium. Their eclectic blend of jazz, blues, gospel, country, and cabaret has been enthralling fans for almost as long.
The band is made up of a hodgepoge of montreal musical misfits. While Marc tries to remember his songs ,Sylvain Cote (rhythm activism, orchestre des elephants)
deconstructs guitar , Fred Theriault emits bass , Tom Mennier (Martha Wainwright) tickles ivory, Alexander Macsween (bionic,Marie Brassard),sometimes hits skins……and whoever drops by Is usually encouraged to noise maketh.
The ensemble has recorded three cds: 'omen cats' released in 2000, the 2003 release “33 1/3â€, and the most current project â€parade†due for release in 2006. 33 1/3rd received fantastic critical acclaim: “beautifully recorded, d i y tour de forceâ€, earshot; “un fiasco reussiâ€, voir,â€cool,way cool†hour magazine
Marc’s music has been featured on shows such as CBC’s DNTO - and Routes Montreal, and has also been used in various independent films.
Along with the band and a cast of musical friends marc has spent much of 2005 recording at Montreal’s hotel2tango with Howard Bilerman (Arcade fire,godspeed you black emperor).
They will be launching their new cd “parade†at the Sala Rossa
in Montreal Sunday may 7th at 8:30 pm
