I was working for a Wall Street company. I had a serious case of the blues. While everyone else was reading Barron's & The WSJ, I was reading Rolling Stone. One day I'm flipping through the back pages and take a look at the classifieds. One ad read, 'ALASKA EMPLOYMENT: Earn $$/See the World'. For whatever reason, it just seemed like the perfect thing to do. I quit the next day. Called in my resignation from The Port Authority. Took a bus to Seattle and started walking the docks. A week later I'm on a boat in the Bering Sea. (What an idiote Great Experience. Stayed out for 15 months. Wrote a record and got half way through a second one. Headed back to NYC. A few weeks later I get a call from Rob Fraboni. I knew who he was. He had produced Dylan, The Band, Clapton, Bonnie Raitt & The Stones; amongst many others. He and I hit it off right away. He said that he had heard my acoustic demo and wanted to produce my record. I said, 'Cool'. He asked if I had a band. I said, 'No, but I can hear one'. He said, 'I'll get you a band'. That he did. He called on some friends, I called on one or two. We all met in Austin to record the tracks. Did the vocals in NYC. Blondie Chaplin showed up. He had just wrapped up the last leg of The Stones Tour. Taught me how to sing for the first time. Keith even stopped by one night. (You couldn't make that story up Here's the result. Special thanks to the best pick-up garage band a guy could ask for!
