"Dreamcatcher" was basically recorded live, so that the listener can get a taste of the warm feeling they produce at their live shows. The lyrics are often dreamy and melancholy, a natural product of the cold and dark climate they inhabit.
The title song starts out with just vocals and a Martin acoustic guitar, and as the band enters you are slowly drawn into a dreamlike Daniel Lanois - type feeling. The next song "Down by the creek" is more electric and straight sounding, while the last song "Colors through smoke" is more groovy and uptempo, and has a mandolin acoustic sound.
