The Expatriates was formed by two people in Oak Park, Illinois who shared a dream... Actually, they just had some time on their hands, a penchant for playing guitar and a desire to write songs. Mary Ralph and Rolando Palacios met at an open mic which Mary hosts. After playing a few gigs together which included mostly covers, they formed their own band, and in 2003 released a 5-song self-titled EP. This was made possible thanks to the wonders of modern technology including a drum machine and some fairly inexpensive computer software. After a while, Dagny Hooks joined on drums and Omar Uribe on bass. The band is currently looking forward to recording a full length CD as a four-piece.
