The Happy Cynics, a 5-piece rock band based in Washington, D.C., are probably the first band in the history of Western music to defy convention and call their first album "Greatest Hits". This album is an 11-track collection of studio recordings and live tracks recorded in 2001 and 2002.

Two original songs on the album, "Weekender Bender," and "Shore Billy" also reached #1 as the most downloaded song of the week (on two separate occasions) on the Washington Post's mp3 charts earlier this year.

The Happy Cynics play a mix of covers and originals, and have a repertoire that spans such genres as blues, folk, country, and hard rock.

Michael Harrington - rhythm guitars
Jim Ilaria - lead guitar
Mary Elizabeth Larson - vocals
Doug Cranford - drums
Rick Wolf -- bass
