Emerging from California with a unique blend of world, rock, and electronic music, The J Band is creating a revolution of rhythm and melody. The depth of their musical movement is captured in the release of The J Band's debut album, "the africas and ithacas".
Jordan Lindsey (vocals, guitar) began writing songs while living in Spain and continued his writing evolution in other parts of the world. While at college in Northern California he met fellow student and guitar prodigy, Amit Katzir. "It was amazing how our styles worked together, like we'd been doing it for years." With an early collection of songs, the two started playing shows, quickly becoming campus favorites.
To spread the fan base they returned to their native town of Los Angeles and dove into the sounds which were stirring around town. Soon they were incorporating elements of the thriving music scene and began playing with Alan Mark Lightner (percussion, vocals), D.J. Paul Ryan (beats, synths), and Greg Magnuson (bass, vocals).
They headed to the studio in the summer of 2003 to record their first album and released it in November, 2003 on their independent label, DrummerBoy Music.
The album, along with their high-energy live show, has quickly connected with fans throughout California, across the country, and around the world. Bearshare.com, the prestigious Westlake Studios in Hollywood, and several national radio shows have all featured The J Band.
