They are The Minors-a Brooklyn, New York-based band. In April 2002 they debuted as The Ben Carroll Band at the lower east side's The Elbow Room to an enthusiastic audience. Since then, they have seen a busy touring schedule along the northeast, including club dates like The Mercury Lounge, Northsix, and Pete's Candy Store, as well as various venues along the college and public radio circuit.
In the summer of 2002 they produced their first EP of original songs-five in all, including one live recording. As their material prolifically grew and evolved, in June of 2003 The Minors set to making their first album, "Not So Shy"-a self-produced effort that would take eight months to complete. From those twelve songs, one begins to hear the wide range of musical landscape that the band occupies, going smoothly from 'no depression' rock to rock-reggae, stax-volt soul to roadhouse blues, americana folk to melody-driven pop. If Macy Gray wanted to prime a college crowd, The Minors would be the best opener she could find. If Wilco wanted to share a rock bill, The Minors would be the perfect pair. Indeed, unlike many artists, they transcend any given style in the name of getting at something true and direct, something beautiful, something identifiable as a sound all their own.
