152d Fear of a Blank Planet
Artist Guide » Rock » Roots Rock » VARIOUS ARTISTS: 15 Minutes
"15 Minutes" is our independent songwriter's showcase. Each month, Jay Fallo selects between 8 to 10 independent artists to play either 3 songs or 15 Minutes at the House of Blues, New Orleans. Artists perform before talent buyers, music critics, and a crowd that averages from one to two hundred per show. With the 15 Minutes platform, some songwriters have been selected to go from local coffee houses (playing in front of 10 people), to opening for national acts (playing in front a thousand).

Why do people want to come to the show? This is not an "open mic' night." This is not a chance to snap your fingers in a black turtleneck and hug your new friend, either. This is a chance to hear the most promising and yet-to-be-discovered musicians in the nation, occasionally singing on the same bill with established talent (who will also sign to play), before they hit the big time. This is a chance to hear great songs, wonder why you have not heard that on the radio before, and let someone else (um, that would be Jay) comb every corner of the planet to locate - for you - the best upcoming artists.
Why do artists want to play this show? As the cover of our CD suggests, we open doors. 15 minutes is an opportunity to play in a premier venue in front of a sophisticated group of listeners. It is a chance to network, and be appreciated by peers. We boast that the show presents opportunities for large shows, for performance before media buyers and critics, and for some free beer (and chips, too), but we find the some of the greatest moments at 15 Minutes are behind the stage, while singers and songwriters compare notes, try new material on each other, collaborate , and build friendships.

At its core, 15 Minutes is about developing talent and promoting independent music. So far, we have succeeded in both.Andy Warhol predicted "Everyone will be famous for 15 minutes." Our show gives artists their 15 minutes, but we are confident it won't end there.

CD BABY REVIEWER

Reviewer: Hope Lattanzi
I first discovered Kristy Kruger on a CD I bought while in New Orleans called JPF Music Presents - 15 Minutes. I loved her voice immediately, she stood out from the other great artists on the cd, and was very happy to find that she had some CDs of her own. I bought An Unauthorized Guide to the Human Anatomy (and the shipping from CD Baby was lightening fast I may add) and I was not at all disappointed. This CD is wonderful, the music is a jazzy folk sound filled with emotion that I can never tire of. I plan on buying her other CDs as well.

THIS REVIEW IS WHAT JPF MUSIC IS ABOUT, PASSING ALONG QUALITY MUSIC THAT NEEDS A LARGER AUDIENCE.

Thanks-
Jay Fallo and Bill Kelly
