"I've wondered, more than a few times over the years, if Bob
Dylan knows or cares that many here in his hometown of Duluth take great pride in being from the same cold corner of the planet from which he emerged. We've taken keen interest in his songs that reference our town ("....walking the hills of old Duluth"), or our region ("...where the winds hit heavy on the borderline"). We lit up when he mentioned Duluth and our National Guard Armory in his Grammy winning acceptance speech. We were excited when we learned he was finally going to play his hometown in 1999. And we smiled when on his second visit, midway thru his set, he fixed his steely gaze up at the bluff overlooking the Bayfront Festival Park stage and said "I was born on that hill up there. Glad to see it's still there." Much like the rock from which that hill is formed, Bob Dylan's body of art (carved out over the last 45 years) has been a solid touchstone for us to mark the days and the decades. It's with pride that we keep his music in the air on radio, in "live" studio perform- ances, and at concerts, clubs and bars. And as Bob Dylan turns 65 years (forever) young, it's with hometown pride that this record came together: With artists from Duluth paying tribute to our favorite native son and one of America's greatest living artists."
