BIOGRAPHYZG Through his vision and creativity, ZG, the multitalented songwriter/recording artist/performer, expands the scope of reggae music with his current CD single titled Dream Your Dream . As he engages and wins the attention of global audiences, ZG demonstrates a rich variety of musical compositions, reminiscent of the works of two of his mentors, celebrated legends Bob Marley and Jimi Hendrix. Born in a family of musical craftsmen, ZG's first influence was his father, the legendary Jamaican guitarist, Gilbert Cole, who bears the distinction of being an early mentor to celebrated guitarist Earnest Ranglin and his nephew StrangeJah Cole, who is credited with writing the first Reggae song "Bangarang", and in turn, influenced the likes of The Wailers, The Mighty Diamonds and many others. Relocating from his native Kingston , Jamaica with his father to London , ZG held tenaciously to his ska/reggae roots, blending it with his passion for rock music. While contributing to musical arrangements for the rock opera, Electric God, based on the life of Jimi Hendrix, Richie Havens discovered ZG. So substantive was the connection that ZG relocated to New York City and began doing live performances and recordings with Havens at many well-known clubs and other venues throughout the city, including Woodstock Festival in Madison Square Garden . Taking full advantage of the rich variety of the city's music culture, he has performed and recorded with performers such as jazz artists Onaje Allen Gumbs and Larry Coryell , bass extraordinaire T.M.Stevens, drummers Kenward Dennard and Wil Calhoun of Living Color, guitarist Harum Bullock, trumpeter Shunzo Ohno, and keyboardist Delmar Brown. Eventually, ZG decided to form his own band, 108 Desires . Tapping into the diverse talent pool of the city, 108 Desires comprises seasoned musicians whose collaborative talents synthesized reggae and rock, creating a unique blend and a signature sound that add up to amazing live performances. ZG completed a successful "Victory Over Violence" tour (attended by over 10,000 people), with performances at Union Square Park , Prospect Park , Marcus Garvey Park and at the Main Street Community Center in Boston , Mass. In his quest to build hope for the future through world peace, ZG states: "My music and my writing are extensions of my mind. It has long been stated that the pen is mightier than the sword. My pen seeks to encourage, uplift and bring hope to the hopeless and peace to the troubled. The answers to most problems exist within us. We must summon up the courage to bring forth our greatest potential. We must dream our dreams, pray, chant and take action." Check out the artist's website: http://www.zgdream.com Track List: 1.
