The legendary Carnival Band is commonly known as
the PEOPLE'S BAND of Vancouver, presenting worldbeat
dance groove at clubs, street parties, and jazz funerals;
leading parades and peace marches for up to 30,000
people; and touring to festivals throughout Western
Canada (and Europe) since 1997.
With an outrageous variety of horns, drums and costumes,
the band's eye-popping line-up of nearly thirty players
is fronted by the unholy trinity of Ross Barrett (tenor sax),
Dan Vie (vocals) and Marcos X (percussion), and fueled by
joyous vocals and a heavy dance beat from guitar & bass.
The Carnival Band's musical roots reach deep into
the cultures of Indian wedding bands, Afro-Caribbean
trance and Latin dance, Eastern Europe's klezmer
and New Orleans' Mardi Gras.
